Matt Gilbert is a visual and sound artist living in Atlanta, GA. Matt Gilbert began studying visual art in high school at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. He received a BFA in graphic design from Art Center College of Design, which he complemented with studies in media design, computer science, and math, both at Art Center and through classes and a fellowship at Caltech. Matt then completed some post-graduate work in Digital Media at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. While living in Atlanta, Matt developed a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative art and design practice that included interactive electronics, video, animation, sound installation, web development, crochet, papercraft, and other media. In 2015, Matt received his MFA from UC Davis in Studio Art, where his emphasis was on kinetic sculpture and collaborations with PhD students in music composition.
