The spider made out of sewing needles was inspired by the intersection of technology and craft, and the overlapping histories of the textile industry and early computing. Computers used to store programs in punched cards, but before that, punched cards were originally developed to store textile patterns for automated looms. The installation combines the materials of electronics, programming, and textiles.
